Lone Workers (Healthcare)
Duration: 30 minutes
If you are an outreach worker, community carer or someone who works night shifts in hospitals, which may include nurses, doctors, porters, cleaners or security staff, you can often find yourself working alone. This can make you more vulnerable in instances such as aggression from the public, manual handling scenarios or even basic provision of hygiene and welfare facilities.
This Lone Workers (Healthcare) course, familiarises learners with legislation and information that has been formulated to protect people who work on their own in a healthcare setting. The course explores health and safety principles including what your employer should be doing to keep you safe at work, as well as handling of hazardous substances and when you should record or report incidents. It also provides practical pointers on managing aggression or violence from members of the public and looks at how to recognise and manage stress, which can result from working alone with little or no supervision.
